Ultrasonic anemometer from FT Technologies to increase turbine availability
The FT7 Series of ultrasonic wind sensors deliver highly accurate, reliable and consistent wind speed and direction data from compact sensors. With no moving parts, built-in heaters, and resistance to a wide range of environmental factors, the FT7 Series sensors are maintenance-free and deliver 99,9% data availibility for years - even in extreme environments and the harshest conditions on the top of a wind turbine.
FT Technologies' patented Acu-Res® technology makes the FT7 Series sensors unique in the market. All the sensors are 100% wind tunnel checked before dispatch to ensure that the sensor will make significant contribution to turbine availability and productivity.
FT7 Series wind sensors powered by Acoustic Resonance® Technology
Acu-Res® is a solid-state technology for measuring wind speed and direction. It uses an acoustic (ultrasonic) wave which is resonated inside a small cavity. A strong resonating sound wave in a small space gives a signal to noise ratio more than 40db stronger than other ultrasonic technologies. The Acu-Res® technology is what gives the sensors from FT Technologies a more robust and reliable measurement solution than other mechanical and other ultrasonic wind sensors.
The aluminum hard anodised body of the wind sensor is highly resistant to corrosion, sand, dust, ice and solar radiation. The sensor is sealed to IP67 standard and inherently compensates for changes in the air's temperature, pressure and humidity.
Fitted with a thermostatically controlled heating system, the sensor maintains its temperature at a user specified heater set point of between 0° and 55°C. Three software controlled heaters are used to distribute heat intelligently over the entire sensor which effectively ensure that the sensor stays ice-free.
Wind sensors are often exposed to high levels of electromagnetic interference from static discharges and nearby lightning strikes. The ultrasonic FT7 Series from FT Technology incorporates robust protection circuitry to shield it against these effects. The sensors will survive undamaged lightning induced surges in excess of 4kA 8/20µs.
